Ukulele lessons

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about the ukulele.
Our ukulele teacher was Alison she is from Ireland.
Bella, Jack and I had the same color ukulele.
A bright yellow. Alison is going to be our ukulele teacher for 5 weeks every Wednesday.
I really enjoyed Alison teaching me a bit more about the ukulele.
I need to work on  getting in beat with the other ukuleles.

Maromaku

On Friday some of Paihia School went to Maromaku. Maromaku is a big tournament were you could play netball , rugby and rippa rugby. I played Netball. In my Netball team was Tia , Bella, Astin, Reitu , Saffyre and Taleisha. We only won two games in the whole thing because we were playing year ⅞ . We were at the tournament for 4 and a half hours and we had five games. Every weekend so far we have won our games so that was a good challenge our team did very well was an awesome day. Reading

In Te Ngahere  we have been learning about the ngahere. We had to choose either a bird ,
insect  or a tree to learn about. First I chose the Takahe and my first buddy was Jamie and Izaiah F. Then I chose the short tailed bat my buddy was Jamie. I think we did well at collaborating to get info about our bird and bat. I need to work on not social talking with other pairs.
Overall it was really cool here are my two presentations.

Passion project

In Te Ngahere  the year 6s have learnt about our passion project.
A passion project is something we are  passionate about.
We learnt about music and how to put beats together.
We all loved music and we like listen to music everyday so
I was pretty glad I was learning about  music! So I was in a group of three with my friends
Bella and Rikesh.
We did well adding beats to make a good song.
We have to work on sharing the ipad because we did not do that well.

Bay Bush Action

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about  the Ngahere. Brad and Stella came from Bay Bush Action to talk more about the Ngahere. We learnt about different types of birds and insects. We are hoping to become the first school to be pest free in New Zealand. Brad and Stella gave us ten rat traps to put around the school. I really enjoyed setting the traps it was very interesting. This is a start so hopefully we start to get pest free!!!!!

In Te Ngahere we have been writing a descriptive piece of writing called a moment in time.

The story is set in the Te Ngahere the bush.

This is only my draft so I still need to work on my feedback.

Moment in time

The bright sky and shiny sun with bushes and bushes trees and trees.

The beautiful green bed uphill down hill. With shiny water smooth and calm. Trees as green as the grass. The  trees calmly swaying side to side. Birds humming to the sound of the water. Bees collecting their honey. The sound of bees humming with the birds it was the best bush walk. I felt the grass tickling my feet. The mud sticking to the grass like glue.  The daisies blooming in the corner of my eye. The water as clear as the sea. The smell of daisies blooming. The lefs flying across the forest. The smell of dry bark  throughout the whole forest. Sprinting thru the soft forest. Sitting on the flower bed. Breathing fresh air in and out. The sight of a lily pond nearby frogs tadpoles. Cute birds bright sky what a lovely day for a bush walk. Butterflies sewing gracefully above the waving trees.

The sound of tui , kereru and more wild life. Bush waving , flowers blooming , water calm like the grass , mud as sticky as glue , peaceful quite the sunniest bush walk I have ever been to. Nest  above looking like it is on a tightrope about to fall then the wind stops the nest calmly stops and sound and safe.

Ecosystem writing

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about  healthy ecosystems.

First we learnt about what is an ecosystem is and how it works.

I think I did well at describing what  a producer is (producer produces food to get energy).

I need to work on responding properly to my feedback. Hopefully you enjoy my writing.

What makes a healthy ecosystem?

                 

An healthy ecosystem has two classes living things and non living things. Producers and consumers are living things , decomposers, sunlight and inorganic matter are nonliving things.

Decomposers are things such as bacteria and fungi, decomposers also break down dead matter. When something dies a decomposer makes it into bacteria or fungi.

Consumers are things like sharks, , kinas, crayfish and also people . Sharks kinas, crayfish's, and people are consumer because they eat other living things.   

Producers are plants that can produces their own energy to grow. When a producer get there energy other animals come to eat the plants so they can get energy, after that it carries on and on.

An ecosystem is very fragile and it can not cope with changes. If the ecosystem gets unbalanced the food chain will also change. For an example at Maitai Bay the kina barren problem there are to many kina and not a lot of crayfish. So if there is two many kina , the problem will get worse and the ecosystem will be unbalanced and the food chain will change!!!
